Thursday

Mammy and Pappy came over for a little while in the morning. I gave Sutton a bath (my first time) since we realized the night before we hadn't given him one since Saturday morning...oops. Guess that is part of being the second child:)
Katie and Nate brought over Camino for lunch. I have missed our mexican lunches since I have had Sutton. It was such an enjoyable time and I think this may be the way to go from now on. We could let the kids down to play when they were finished and we could take our time talking and eating (and feeding Sutton at the table wasn't a problem).
Sophie laid down on the couch for a nap after they left and she actually fell asleep by herself and slept for about an hour and a half. I took advantage of this and Sutton and I napped on the other couch...it felt great!!!
The night time routine didn't go as well when we put her to bed. She has been so good about going to bed and rarely cries or has any problems. If she has cried it was for a reason and we check on her quickly. This time nothing was wrong when Chad went to check, but she was crying pretty hard so he brought her downstairs for a while. Then he took her back and it happened again. After about 20 minutes he went up b/c we were watching the monitor and she was standing up and also gagging and almost throwing up. He rocked her for a little while and fell asleep. When he put her back in the crib she started again. He came back down and held Sutton while I watched the monitor. I couldn't resist the picture when he fell asleep with the bobby pillow on his head. I got Sophie one time and changed her diaper and put her back finally letting her cry it out until she fell asleep (another 20 or 30 minutes). After it was all done, she had cried off and on from 8:15-11:15pm. I had just been bragging to Aunt Joan earlier that day that we were so blessed that she was still going to bed and sleeping through the night...spoke too soon.
The next night she cried again, but we just left her and she finally went to sleep after about 30 minutes. The next night she was back to normal...thank goodness!!!

Happy 50th Birthday Nanny!

We celebrated Nanny's 50th birthday at Demos with the rest of the McClaran side of the family (we were a group of 28). Everything turned out great! Chad made an adorable "50 and Fabulous" cake for his mom and put together a beautiful flower arrangement. It was a great meal and good company. Our battery in the camera died early on so we didn't get many pictures.

Fun with Grandmama

Mom came to get Sophie and took her to lunch and then to the park to play on Wednesday. It was great for her to get out of the house and have some one on one time with Grandmama. I enjoyed my time at the house with Sutton. I really needed a nap, but took advantage of the time to clean the bathrooms and straighten up the house. It is amazing how much different it is with the second child. It seems so easy when I just have Sutton and I don't remember thinking it was easy at all with just Sophie. Not that she was a bad baby or anything...I just think the whole mom thing is more natural and I don't really worry about things that would have worried me before.
I am able to lay Sutton down in his crib or in the bobby seat and he will sleep for a good amount of time. If he wakes up and cries it is usually b/c it is time to eat or he has a wet diaper. I feed or change him and he stops crying (for the most part). I don't think I laid Sophie down that often. I could just lay and hold her and nap while she napped. Now I have more things going on and can't just hold him all the time. I don't think I am loving on him any less or spending less time with him. It is probably for the best in the long run that he can lay by himself and nap.
When Mom brought Sophie home we switched and she napped with Sutton while Sophie and I went to get my tags...or at least that was the plan. My check engine light had come back on so I didn't even go back to emissions and instead Sophie and I went shoe shopping (for her).

Uh Oh Remote

I accidently dropped the Tivo remote and broke it this morning. Turned out to be a good way to keep Sophie from watching or asking for Mickey. I told Sophie that Daddy would fix it when he got home (we actually had another remote that just needed batteries so that was a good thing). She didn't forget about the remote and it was the first thing she said to him when he was getting her out of the car. He didn't know what she was saying at first, but we were cracking up that she still had it on her mind when we got home that evening...girl doesn't forget anything!

Busy Tuesday...

I decided that in order to get things done I would need to include Sophie in the cleaning process. I had a bottle of Pledge that was almost empty so I let her have that one and a dust cloth so that she thought she was cleaning too. She loved it! We didn't get too much done, but we got started.
Amber brought Karlee and Katelyn to Murfreesboro and we took the kids to the park to play. The weather had cooled off significantly and truly feels like fall (finally!). Katelyn slept in her carseat and stroller and Sutton did for the most part (I ended up feeding him while we were there). The girls had such a good time being outside and playing together. I am so glad the weather is nice and we can get out a little more. We had lunch at the house and then Amber headed back home to get to Karlee's 2 year dr. appt.
After they left I decided to head to Eagleville to have Uncle Jimmy look at my car and get the check engine light off so it could pass emissions. We got to see Granny and Papa...Sophie was so excited. Afterwards we went to Nanny's and she played with Grant. This was Sutton's first visit to Nanny and Grandpa's house. We had a great day in the beautiful weather!

Sutton 2 Weeks Old

I can't believe Sutton is already 2 weeks old. Grandmama came over after lunch and took Sophie to the park to play. The cooler weather is so nice! When they got home from the park Mom stayed with Sutton while Sophie and I went out to run a few errands. Sutton and Grandmama napped while we were gone:) I am so thankful that Mom can stop by and help out so that Sophie can get out of the house and I can spend some one on one time with her. I think it is good for her.
Aunt Joyce and Uncle Jerry brought us dinner. We had fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, fried apples,  corn bread and peach cobbler....it was so good!

Lunch at Miller's Grocery for Bill and Deborah's Anniversary

We surprised Aunt Deborah and Uncle Bill at Miller's Grocery for lunch after church. They were celebrating their 30th Wedding Anniversary on Monday.

Sutton's 2nd Week at Church

We made it to Sunday School and Church again this Sunday. I really don't know what I would do without Chad. He gets both kids ready while I take care of getting myself ready. Sutton was much more alert this Sunday and didn't go to sleep until the service was almost over.

Sneak Peek of Sutton's Newborn Pictures

Saturday morning we had a photo session at our house. Sutton was very alert and wide awake even when we really needed him to go to sleep so could position him in crazy ways...like on a golf bag and on a bookshelf:) The photographer put up a few pictures as a sneak peek on Facebook...I can't wait to see them all!!!
I am curious to see what other pictures we got with Sophie. We tried not to push it too much. I think we might have gotten a few good ones. She is really getting hard to photograph...better enjoy this time with Sutton being so cooperative:)
The last picture is with a blanket that my friend Meghan made for him...it is so adorable...thanks Meghan!

Karlee's 2nd Birthday Party

We celebrated Karlee's Birthday (9/22) on Saturday afternoon. Chad decorated her cake (Amber baked it). That reminds me of Friday. We went to Amber's early that morning and she took Sophie and Karlee to the zoo while I watched Katelyn and Sutton. We had lunch when they got home and then I stayed there with all of them while Amber ran to the store (pretty quickly) to get stuff for the cake and the cookout for Mom's bday dinner that night. It was a long day and Sophie wouldn't nap when we got home...I was wiped out that night!
Anyway...Karlee had a Princess Party and it turned out very cute. The kids had fun playing together and everything was going well until we tried to get a picture before we left...did I mention it was getting hard to get group pictures?? I think the plan should be to take pictures at the beginning of any event instead of waiting until the end.

Happy Birthday Grandmama!!!

We had a dinner at our house to celebrate Grandmama's Birthday. Sophie made her a card and gave her a "cake". We had burgers and chips for dinner...Grandmama's favorite meal:) David, Carrie and Trey were also there. We tried to get a picture with all the kids, but we had waited too long and it was pretty much impossible with the older ones so we just got the two little ones. The group picture thing is getting harder and harder!

Dinner with The Coopers

Mammy and Pappy came by for an hour or so on Thursday morning. Sophie really enjoys their visits. It works out that they are in Murfreesboro for several hours waiting for Eliza to finish preschool on Thursday mornings.
That night, Jennifer and Brian brought spaghetti over for dinner. The kids made such a mess that they got a bubble bath:) Sutton also got his bath and everyone wanted to watch.
I wasn't in the bathroom when it happened, but apparently Sophie started saying "penis" when Grant got in the tub. I don't think we have talked about it that much, but have mentioned the body parts before...girl has a good memory. She thought it was hilarious!
Speaking of penises...no one told me you had to flip it down in the diaper. Last week there was one night/morning that I had to change Sutton's outfit three times b/c he was peeing out of the diaper. When I told Chad, he asked if I was placing it the right way. Guess I have to learn these things as we go:)
