Fun With Grandaddy

Mom watches the kids most days at our house. Grandaddy comes over after work and gets to play for a little while. It is funny b/c Sutton is all about him even though Mom is with him all the time. They will be going out the door and Sutton will be crying for Grandaddy to take him:) I love it!

Sleepy Boy...

Sutton decided he would just lay in the floor and fall asleep. We had been taking him to his crib asleep most nights, but this was a sign that it was time to just put him in there when he was tired and let him fall asleep on his own. It didn't take but just a little crying a few nights for him to start going to bed without a peep. He practically jumps out of my arms to get in the bed. This makes it soooo much easier at night. Now only if I could get Sophie's process of going to bed less than a 30 minute process.

Morgan's Bridal Shower in Hendersonville

Matt's sister, Natalie and their cousin, Jamie, hosted a bridal shower for Morgan in Hendersonville. Mom, Amber and myself were able to attend and meet Matt's wonderful family!

The kids had fun helping Grandpa wash his bus. They worked so hard they were exhausted when I picked them up.
Sophie fell asleep while I was holding her and telling Nanny bye. Sutton was drinking the rest of his bottle and could hardly keep his eyes open. They sure have fun at Nanny and Grandpa's house!!!

Confessions of a 2 year old

Sophie has had a a bit of a problem taking Sutton's paci. It started happening about the time Grandmama started watching them...kind of a coincidence. We decided that she would not get to watch Mickey if she took his paci (she is seriously addicted so this was a big punishment). It got to the point that it didn't really bother her. She knew she wouldn't get to watch it, but wanted to suck the paci bad enough. Then she started lying about it. I would come home and ask her if she took his paci and she would look me straight in the eye and say that she didn't (of course Grandmama would tell me the truth).
It is kind of hard to tell a 2 year old not to lie when she doesn't even know what it means to lie. We told her that Jesus knows what she has done and it makes him sad when she doesn't tell us what really happened. She insisted that she had not taken his paci on this day (I knew she did) so we told her that Jesus knew the truth.
It wasn't long before I found her on the bed with the house phone. I asked her who she was calling and she said she was calling Jesus. She said she had to tell him that she took Sutton's paci. I guess that is a 2 year old's confession:)

Sunday Morning

Jay and Brenna got to stay the night with us. We put Sutton in his crib, Jay slept on one couch, Sophie on the other and Brenna slept in her bed. Sophie and Brenna started out together, but Sophie wouldn't give it up so I brought her downstairs so Brenna could get some rest. They enjoyed watching Mickey and eating waffle on the couch (not our norm but it was a special occasion).

Morgan and Matt's Couple Shower - Fiesta!

We had a great time hosting a couples shower for Morgan and Matt (with Amber, James, Carrie and David). We decided on a mexican theme and Chad went all out with the decorations and details.
Chad pulled together some props (and made mustaches and unibrows) for the photo booth. You might wonder where we got this stuff, but randomly my mom had most of it!
Jay and Brenna came to watch the kids so they could be there but we wouldn't have to worry about them. It worked out perfect b/c it was Pam's high school reunion and they needed somewhere to stay and we needed babysitters...funny how the tables are turning now. They are so good with the kids and we are so lucky to have them around!
Mom and Dad:)

A Mexican themed party wouldn't be complete without margaritas. We decided to try to make them like the one we had at Carrabba's. When we looked it up it is referred to as an Italian margarita. It was made with tequila, triple sec, amaretto and sweet and sour mix. They were a big hit!

We had the party at James and Amber's new house in Murfreesboro. Their backyard is perfect for entertaining!

We filled a pinata with a variety of items...hershey kisses, paydays, lottery tickets and condoms...everyone got a kick out of it.

The food was great. Amber made chicken for fajitas and Carrie made homemade salsa, guacamole and cheese dip. Chad made the cute little signs to go along with them.
We had fun meeting Matt's friends and some of Morgan's friends from school and work (Ulta). The best was the random guy who came in the door with a case of beer and no one knew who he was and finally Amber asked and he was at the wrong house! Too funny:)

Jay was entertaining the kids with videos on his IPad

It started getting dark before we got all the pictures in the "photo booth," but everyone had a lot of fun posing. I had to include them all just for laughs:)
