Celebrating James's 30th Birthday

We went straight from Hendersonville (after I made a shopping trip to a children's boutique) to Mt. Juliet to meet up with Chad. Mom took his car back which worked great. We went to Chad's college friend and fraternity brother's 30th birthday party. James was in our wedding and is a great friend! Sophie was the only kid at the party, but was pretty well behaved. I got in the pool with her for a short time before the lightening in the distance got us out quickly. I got her in the house by promising cake so we rushed up the birthday singing because she kept asking for "cake." My child definitely associates birthdays with cake!

Beth's Baby Shower

Beth, a friend from Sevierville that I grew up with, had a baby shower in Hendersonville (given by her husband's family). It worked out that Mom, Sophie and I were able to attend. Beth is due on Labor day (12 days ahead of me) and also having a boy. My family has lots of fun memories with Beth. Her dad was my basketball coach in middle school and she and her family will always be very special to me! Can't wait to meet baby Canon.
Sophie was very well behaved at the shower and I was so proud of her. She helped pass the gifts around and was polite as she said "thank you Grandmama" whenever mom gave things to her.

Sophie and Skyping...

I was on the computer looking up a toy and the website had a sound that did sound a lot like Skype coming on - not that I thought of that right away. Sophie was in the living room playing and ran over to me at the kitchen table saying "Alli...Alli...Alli" (maybe it sounds a little more like "Aldi" but I still knew what she was saying). Then I realized she must have thought it was getting on skype. We were just talking to her last weekend and she is the one we talk to on the computer the most (she lives in Singapore). It was morning for her so I tried to call to see if they were up and if she could skype. When Sophie heard the phone ringing from the computer she was so excited. She even said her own version of "Kyle" which was pretty cute.
It is hard to believe that Sophie is growing up during a time when talking to someone on the computer and seeing them is actually a reality. It only existed on the Jetson's when I was growing up. I am so glad that Sophie is able to get to know my friends who are all over the country/world.
In talking about technology, we realized that Sophie is pretty spoiled with Tivo already. When we visited Aunt Joan and Big Dave we had cartoons on the TV in the bedroom when we were getting ready and she got upset when a commercial came on. I didn't think about that fact that she never really has to watch them. A lot of that is due to the fact that we watch PBS and there aren't commercials, but we also Tivo her shows so that she can get what she wants "on demand." It is hard for her to understand that when she asks for Mickey she can't always get it. Sophie is pretty funny when Chad is home and watching TV...she we get the remote from him and bring it to me to ask for the show she wants to watch. Guess she knows who the push over is:)

I Did It...

I sent my camera to Nikon today:( I held off as long as possible, but I knew I better do it soon so we can get it back before Sutton's arrival. I do have my Dad's camera (thanks to everyone who offered to let me borrow theirs).
I'm just hoping Nikon pulls through with their warranty and get the camera back to me quickly.

Morning with Aunt Morgan

Morgan took care of Sophie while I went to mom's dr appointment on Wednesday. It was last minute notice since mom just told me about the appointment time that morning. Morgan and Matt took her to Wild Things class and then to Toot's for lunch. This is how I found them when I came home...guess Sophie was worn out. I got Sophie up and was holding her as Morgan was trying to get out the door. Sophie seemed to be asleep on my shoulder and I was talking to Morgan about what she ate and how she had been when I made a comment about her liking fries (pretty quietly I thought). Sophie pops her head up and yells out "fries." I don't think she was really asleep:)
Grandmama and Grandaddy came over to visit Sophie after they had lunch and then ended up taking her home with them. Mom thought she was being cute asking Sophie if she wanted to go to Grandmama's house as she was getting ready to leave, probably not realizing that you can't just say things and not do them anymore. Sophie ran to the door and pointed up to the keys hanging on the coat stand and said "keys." She was excited to go with them. I took the time to sweep, vacuum, dust and put dinner on. By the end of the night I was regretting doing so much, but I was happy to have things clean. Mom, Dad and Morgan went swimming and then had dinner with us when they brought Sophie home. I think she had a fun day!

Happy Birthday Andriana!

We celebrated Andriana's 21st Birthday at Nanny and Grandpa's on Tuesday night. Sophie worked up a sweat before we ate running around chasing bubbles. Everyone enjoyed playing in the pool and getting some relief from the heat. It is so different watching Sophie in the pool with her water wings...she looks like such a big girl. It is hard to believe that she is growing up so fast!

32 Week Appointment Update - Community Revival

I had my 32 week appointment on Monday morning. Sophie stayed at Nannies and I got back in time to join them for lunch at Granny's. Sutton is doing well and I measuring appropriately. I gained 2lbs so I think I am up to 20lbs...just a little longer to keep it under control. I go back in two weeks and then start going every week after that. I had Sophie at 37 weeks so it is crazy to think that Sutton could be here in 5 weeks (not that I'm getting that in my head).
Monday night we went to revival at Rocky Glade. It is a community revival that moved between 3 Cumberland Presbyterian churches in the area (not our big revival). We are looking forward to that coming up at the end of August.

Followers...

I am curious who is following the blog. I moved up the followers link toward the top of the blog so that it is more noticeable. If you haven't already added your name, please do...I'm being nosey:)

Sophie's 88th Sunday at Church - Pool Party at Aunt Annie's

We didn't manage to get a picture at church, but got one at Granny's. She has learned that there is a plate of biscuits left from breakfast and started asking for one as soon as we get there. Can't blame her...it is the first thing Chad and I go for also:)
Aunt Annie had called on Saturday to let us know that she would have the slip and slide and kiddy pool out after church for the kids to play so we took Sophie up there after we ate. Chad put on his trunks and got out there with all the kids while I went down to Aunt Joyce's to go through Sophie's clothes with Deanna (she found out she is having a girl). I forgot to leave the camera with Chad so we didn't get any of the fun photos he said he would've taken if he had the camera (I think he exaggerated a little since he knows how much I love to have pictures for the blog). The kids had a blast in the water and then had ice cream and chips as a snack afterwards.
Sophie was worn out, but by the time we left we figured it wasn't worth it to go all the way home since we had to be back out for revival at 7pm. We hung out at Nanny and Grandpa's for about an hour and then ate Mexican quickly before heading to revival. Luckily, Sophie stayed with Nanny and Grandpa...don't think she would have made it through the service. When I was putting on her pajamas when we got home she would barely open her eyes and just kept saying "nap." She had one busy day!

Eliza Kate's 4th Birthday Party!

Eliza turned 4 on the 15th and we celebrated on Saturday evening. Of course it had to be 100 degrees that day - I think one of the hottest days so far this summer. Luckily Michael and Elizabeth planned an evening party with a pool as an option. Sophie had such a good time in the water! We borrowed some water wings and she did such a good job with them. I really didn't think we would be able to let her go on her own with them, but she kept her head above water and just kicked away. The funniest thing was her kicking her feet up and floating on her back. I am so glad to know she can float on her own b/c it is sometimes hard to hold on to her in the water since she is so independent and wants to be on her own. The night vision didn't work so well and the pictures after dark were very dark since the flash doesn't work properly (I still haven't sent my camera to Nikon but have to soon so we get it back before Sutton arrives).

Sophie and Nate

This was a picture from a previous post, but I forgot to take a picture when they were together 3 different times this week! Nate came over to play while Katie had a doctors appointment on Tuesday and then we ate at Toot's on Wednesday and Camino on Friday. Katie is having a girl by the way (if I didn't already post that information). So far Sophie is getting two new girl cousins in December.
Nate is such a good kid and so easy to watch. Sophie enjoys playing with him and he is just passive enough at this point to let Sophie get by with her aggressive behavior. We are trying really hard to teach her to share (which is pretty hard at this age). She is pretty territorial (especially at our house with "her" toys). So far we have been teaching her to say "please" when she wants something and "thank you" when someone gives something to her. This still doesn't solve the sharing problem because she doesn't really understand that just because you say please doesn't mean you get it or that it is an appropriate time. The funniest thing was when Sophie aggressively jerked something away from Nate and said so sweetly "Thank you Nate" (all on her own). It was so cute, but I still told her that she had to be nice and let Nate play with it a little longer. She is pretty good at knowing how to get what she wants:)
Another funny thing was when Katie and I decided to meet for mexican on Friday. I told Sophie we were going to eat "mexican" and she says "rice and beans" very excitedly. Then I asked her who we were going to eat lunch with and she says "Nate." Guess she has picked up on the fact that we meet Katie and Nate for lunch there about once a week:)

Sophie Meets Marlee

Sophie and I had lunch with Jenny and Brittany on Thursday. Brittany was in town for a short visit and we took the opportunity to let Sophie meet Marlee (something we have been meaning to do all summer!).
After her nap, Marlee joined in on the fun as we hung out at Jenny's after lunch. I waited until just before we left to take a picture and Sophie had already found one of Marlee's pacis and let me know it was time for her to "nap." We had to get a picture of the two AOII Legacies:) Jenny and I decided there was no need to put Sophie and Marlee in any dance classes - we are just going to let "Aunt" Brittany come to town and do a dance camp every summer:)

Wild Things Class with Eliza and Grant

Aunt Jennifer brought Eliza and Grant (and Luke) to Wild Things with Sophie. It worked out great since Eliza is very mothering and pretty much takes care of Grant - holding his hand and having him sit. Eliza tries with Sophie, but she doesn't like being told what to do:)
They had a good time and learned about crickets. Sophie sat in Grant's lap during music time (all on her own). They love each other so much!
After class, we regrouped at our house and then met up with Katie & Nate and Amanda & Wyatt at Toot's for their Wednesday $3.99 chicken finger basket special. Nanny also met us for lunch and you can imagine that we were quiet a table with the kids out numbering adults. Needless to say, I did not get a chance to take a picture. It was actually not that bad and everyone behaved for the most part. We are so lucky to have so many cousins for Sophie to grow up with!

Cousin Picture at Portrait Innovations

We took Sophie, Grant and Luke to Portrait Innovations for an updated cousin picture on Tuesday night. We knew we just wanted to get the $9.95 package since Sutton will be here soon. With the package you just get one pose and they can be pretty pushy about trying to talk you into buying more. Good thing there was really only one picture that all three were standing/sitting still and looking at the camera. It was quiet a task to get them to sit for the picture. At one point Grandpa and Uncle Brian had on the old time hats with flowers on their head and singing songs. It was pretty entertaining:) The kids didn't wear the hats in pictures, but they were pretty cute playing in them as we picked out the pictures. We had a great dinner at Longhorn afterwards. Sophie decided she wanted to sit in Luke's bumbo and feed Nanny bread when we finished.

Pool Time With Karlee

We met Amber and the girls at the pool early on Monday morning and it turned out to be somewhat overcast and not too bad of a day to be out. Grandaddy was off so he and Aunt Morgan joined us (Grandmama watched Katelyn inside and made lunch).
My little monkey got herself into a crazy situation trying to crawl in the bottom of the stroller as we were getting ready to leave the pool...she is a mess! Aunt Morgan gave the girls a bath after lunch and painted their toenails. This was Sophie's first time to get her nails painted and she loved it! She woke up the next morning showing me her toes:) We had a fun day!

31 Weeks Pregnant...

I haven't posted a belly picture in a while, but as you can see, Sutton is growing:) I am carrying him completely different than Sophie. I can't believe how pointy my belly is. I have been feeling alright for the most part. I'm definitely tired at times, but I think I would be in this heat and chasing around Sophie even if I weren't pregnant.
Time is going by so fast. We ordered Sutton's bedding the other day so hopefully we will get his room set up before he arrives. The plan is to set up his nursery in Sophie's room and fix up the guest room for Sophie (still trying to decide on how to decorate). We are planning on just letting Sophie stay in the crib (with Sutton's bedding) until we move him upstairs (probably around 2 months). She does so well in the crib, but I can't imagine it is worth buying another crib for such a short amount of time. We'll see how the plan goes. I have no idea how attached Sophie is to her room.
Sutton is kicking away and making some big moves these days. I have been having braxton hicks contractions pretty regularly, mostly in the evening. Guess that is it on the updates for now.

Happy Birthday Papa!

We celebrated Papa's birthday on Sunday afternoon at the community center. As always, Sophie and her cousins enjoyed running around. She did find a way to cool off with the air conditioning vent:)

Sophie's 87th Sunday at Church

Gotta love Grant's choice of shoes for church on Sunday:)

Peach Wedding Flower Arrangements

Chad did the flowers for Kathy and Ronnie's wedding (couple from church). She just asked him to "help" with flowers, but those of you who know Chad know he doesn't do anything halfway. Because her color was peach, he ordered almost all the flowers online to make sure he had the right colors. When doing flowers on a budget, he can usually find things at stores around town or from people's yard as long as it is the right season or the color is right.
This was his first time to do bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages and I was very impressed. He didn't make the cake, but decorated it with the flowers. Chad is all about doing different types of arrangements, so I included a few pictures of the different types of centerpieces. I thought everything turned out great! By the time Sophie gets married he is going to be a pro!

Haynes Cousin Reunion

We attended Don's first cousin reunion at the community center on Saturday for lunch. It is Granny's siblings children (Granny is the only one still living). When we first got there and still saying hi to everyone, I noticed that Sophie had bent down and taken a bite out of a roll that a little boy was eating in his stroller (she hadn't ever met this kid before). Guess she was hungry:)

We Need a Work Room...

Chad took on the task of doing the flowers for a church member's wedding on Saturday. This was his first time to do bouquets and boutonnieres and it was good practice. She wanted to use peach as the main color so Chad had to order almost all the flowers online instead of taking chances of finding the flowers in local stores. I thought I would take a picture of our kitchen on Saturday morning to give you an idea of how the flowers just take over (luckily he kept them upstairs in the bathroom until he started working on them). If and when we have another house we really need to include a work room (or extra large laundry room) with lots of countertop space and large sinks so that Chad can work on his projects.

Swimming with Meg

Sophie and I headed to Franklin on Friday morning to meet up with Ashley and Meg. Meg is about 3 weeks younger than Sophie even though Ashley's due date was 3 days before mine (I went early and she had Meg about a week late). She is having her second daughter very soon (she is 38 weeks pregnant). We haven't seen them in a little over a year when our mutual friend, Alli, left for Singapore. It was fun to see the girls interact. Their neighborhood pool was so great since there was a good size kiddy pool with part of it in the shade. Ashley and I were able to sit back and relax and talk while the girls played. Sophie had fun playing with all of Meg's toys (had a few little problems with her sharing, but what is new). Sophie took the little watering can toy and filled it up and watered the flowers (all on her own)...she is really taking after her Daddy:)
We had to pick up flowers in Green Hills before lunch so Sophie and I had lunch at Zoe's and got the flowers before heading home. For some reason she stayed awake on the way home and when we got home (so the only nap she had was from Franklin to Green Hills). I was exhausted and had no idea how she could stay awake!
