Sophie stayed with Nanny on her birthday and brought her some flowers that morning. We celebrated that night at Demos' with the family.

FFA Alumni Picnic

We went to the FFA Alumni Picnic on Sunday after church. This was the planning session for Trivia Night that is going to be the first Saturday night in November. If anyone is interested in participating let me know...it is a lot of fun! Ann is fighting cancer and has a blog that is on my sidebar. She is such an encourager and her posts are very inspirational.

Sophie's 46th week at Church

You can see Sophie doing her "come here" motion. She definitely knows what she wants!

Bonnie and Corey's Wedding

My friend Bonnie got married in Cleveland, Tn on Saturday. We drove there just for the wedding and back in the same night. Sophie was a bit worn out, but she pushed through. Bonnie and I were in grad school together at MTSU. She happens to also be a cousin of our friend Pam Truitt. We got to spend time with Pam and Brenna at the wedding also.

Grandmama's Birthday Dinner:)

We celebrated Grandmama's birthday again on Friday night with the entire family (Morgan had class on Thursday night). We had a nice dinner at Hickory Falls. Good thing they have a great carrot cake as a dessert because I gave up on the homemade one I was going to make mom when I couldn't get my shredder to work for the carrots (maybe I didn't try hard enough).

Grandmama's Birthday Lunch

Sophie and I picked up Grandmama and Karlee and took them to lunch for a birthday celebration. We went to Puckett's Grocery in downtown Franklin and then went shopping. It was a beautiful afternoon and we had a great time!

What Sophie Is Up To These Days...

Sophie is doing so many little things that I want to document so I can remember them later when it isn't such a big deal anymore. She has gotten really good at doing things on command so we show off her "tricks" often just to show how smart our little munchkin is:) So many things are changing fast so I thought I would share a few...

1)Pushing things around the house (as seen above). Walks behind her shopping cart and anything else she can move on her own.

2) "Coughs Like Grandmama". Hard to explain, but she started mimicking my Mom when she was trying to get her to cough when she got a little strangled on water. So now all we have to say is "Cough like Grandmama" and she does it on command.

3) Claps her hands when we say "Yay". She started associating the two since we clap and say yay to her when she does something good. She will also do pat-a-cake when we say it.

4) Clicks her tongue when she wants more food or sees us eating something she wants (Nanny taught her this one).

5) Gives us kisses (open mouth and slobbery). Love them:)

6)Motions with her hands to "Come Here". Grandmama taught her this one. When we say "Do you want to go see Karlee (or Grant)" she puts her little hands in front of her and motions for them. I didn't realize she associated it with the word "Come here" until I was trying to get her away from the plant and telling her to come to me and she stopped what she was doing and motioned for me. It is amazing what she picks up on...gotta be careful.

7)Eating some things on her own. Loves waffles, deli meat and shredded cheeses. It is a lot easier and I can actually get things done while she eats. Still working on working in the vegetables and fruits this way. Maybe I'm just hesitant because it is soooo messy!

8)Fake eating? She acts like she is picking things up out of her toys or an empty bowl and pretends to eat. It really scared us at first when we thought there must have been something in the bottom of her shopping cart that she wasn't supposed to be eating. After being around Mom with her I realized that she pretend eats with her and that is where she learned this little game. Her Daddy told her that only Grandmama eats out of the shopping cart at the store:)

I can't believe how much she is learning everyday. She is just so sweet and happy!

Mammy and Pappy's 53rd Anniversary

We celebrated Mammy and Pappy's Anniversary at Legend's. We got a pretty good crowd for a Wednesday night.

Sophie with Mrs. Jones

Mrs. Jones is our next door neighbor who stopped by to visit with Sophie. She and her husband are such wonderful neighbors. We will have to have a post with the tshirt she gave her when she visited Pigeon Forge (as soon as Sophie can fit in the shirt).

Karlee's Birthday Lunch

Amber took off work to celebrate Karlee's 1st Birthday so we decided to meet Grandmama for lunch at Ellendale's. James finished work early so he was able to join us at the end of our 2 hour lunch. We had such a nice time:)

Babysitting Karlee and Sophie

I volunteered to watch Karlee while Amber worked on Monday to give Grandmama a day off. This is how Amber found me when she came home from work...we all seem a little out of it. I will have to say that Karlee makes it real easy because all you have to do is put her in her bed and she goes to sleep on her own and takes a good nap. Sophie, on the other hand, requires a little more attention and I almost always end up having to hold her so she will take a nap. We had all just woken up when Amber got home.

Karlee's First Birthday Party

We celebrated Karlee's first birthday with family and friends on Saturday. The girls had fun together and Sophie is enjoying Karlee's new toys (Shhh...Sophie is also getting a kitchen from Grandmama and Grandaddy). Sophie got really excited watching Karlee tear into her cake...I'm sure she can't wait for her cake in about 6 weeks.

Playing with Hushpuppies

We met Nanny, Grandpa, Uncle Dustin, Aunt Jennifer, Uncle Brian and Grant out for dinner on Friday night. It was very last minute, but Sophie and I were on our way back from Nashville where we took our chances in the lottery to win Wicked tickets (for the second time this week). Needless to say, we didn't win. Sophie got excited about the hushpuppies and we realized she must think they were balls. Sure enough, she picked them up and started to hit them together (like she does her toy balls at home). She was very confused about the texture and the greasiness and didn't really like touching them. It was pretty cute.

Pacifier Thief

Katie brought Nathaniel over on Friday morning (I say morning b/c Sophie still has her gown on but it could have been later...she is like her Grandmama and wears her gown all day sometimes). Anyway, as you can see, she was fascinated by his pacifier and didn't let the clip keep her from taking it away. I think the last picture was her reaction when I took it away from her (notice she still has two in her hands). Just wait till Nathaniel gets a little more mobile...maybe she won't get away with so much!

Caught

Sophie is into everything these days. She has learned to open cabinets and pull out drawers. She is definitely growing because she is reaching things we didn't have to worry about before. Time to rethink having the cleaning supplies in the cabinet under the sink....

Just in Case You Thought She was Perfect:)

I know that Sophie is a smiling, happy baby in almost all my posts so I thought I would show you that she does have her moments. She is definitely a great baby and I couldn't be any luckier with her behavior (so far). We did have a rough day Tuesday. We thought it could be teething...still just the two bottom teeth from about a month and a half ago. It could have been just exhaustion from the weekend and traveling to Sevierville. Either way, Sophie was not happy.

Lots of Love and Support

When we were in Sevierville for my Uncle's funeral we were surrounded with love and support. Long time family friends and extended family showed their support with lots of food and company. Sophie got to meet Brenda, one of my Mom's friends that is always there for the family. Aunt Peggy and Anna Kate came over and Sophie got to meet another cousin who is just six days younger than Sophie. Mom and Peggy had their pictures with their granddaughters:)
