Tara's Southern Meal...

Every time Tara would visit my family, during college and after, my mom would always cook her favorite foods. We call it Tara's southern meal...chicken and dumplings, fried okra, pinto beans, cole slaw, corn bread, mac-n-cheese, mashed potatoes. She could get all these things at Cracker Barrel, but it just isn't the same! I've even tried to make the meal myself when she has visited before, but nothing is like mama's cooking!
Mom and Dad were in Sevierville with Mamaw Rhea, but came back on Monday afternoon just in time to finish up the meal. Sophie had her own pot and spatula to cook while Grandmama was making the dumplings...she was a big help:) Amber, Karlee and Katelyn came for dinner...James had a long day at work and stayed home. David, Carrie and Trey were in town moving a few things (they are moving back to Murfreesboro between now and the end of the month) so they came over also. Carrie's friend from growing up, Amy, came along too. Chad had a board meeting for PSF so he ate what was ready before he left and then came home just as the last guests were leaving. Tara and I gave him a hard time since he timed it perfectly to miss the chaos. It was a little crazy with the kids, but they have so much fun together! It is times like these that make me want a bigger house and a playroom.
We had a great meal and I also made a cake to celebrate Tara's 30th birthday coming at the end of this month.
