Sophie's 1hr 45min Timeout

Some of you probably read about this little episode on Facebook, but here are the pictures to go along with the story. We put Sophie in time out in our bedroom after dinner and I said she had to stay in there for 5 minutes. When I went to let her out, she had locked the door. We had no idea our lock required a key (as do the two bedrooms upstairs) and we have never had a key. We tried the credit card thing and paper clips and knifes and anything else to try to pick the lock.

Chad worked on it for about 45 minutes before Grandaddy came over for reinforcement. He was prepared to take the door off the hinges, but they were inside the room. The only option was for him to take the door trim off and we were trying to avoid that.
Meghan said "Jodi, you cannot ask the police officer to pose for a picture." So I just snapped pictures when he wasn't looking. I'm sure he thought I was really weird!
We kept trying to talk Sophie through unlocking it, but she couldn't. She wasn't upset and was able to talk to us so we weren't that worried at first. She disappeared for a while and heard her in the bathroom. Chad was sliding smarties under the door and bribing her to come back and talk to us. After Grandaddy wasn't able to do much I started calling people I knew who worked in fire or rescue and our previous neighbor who is a cop told me I should call the non emergency number and they should be able to send someone to get it open. When the cop arrived he said the only thing he could do was knock down the door...not the best idea with a 2 year old on the other side. At that point, we decided knocking the doorknob off was the best option so Grandaddy took care of that.
The cop had a two year old son and could relate to the situation. He was showing Sophie his little boy.
Sophie had unrolled an entire roll of toilet paper and put it in the toilet as well as dumping the trash from the trash can. I guess it could have been worse!
We no longer have a door knob and don't know when we will get one back:)
