Amber and I decided we would drive back together on Friday night (Mom and Dad stayed until Saturday, but we were missing our other "babies". So we left Perdido Key around 3:30pm. We had started off the morning on the same feeding schedule to make things easier (good thing we thought about that ahead of time). We were making good time and the girls had been asleep the whole time so far, but we were going to have to feed them and get dinner for ourselves. We decided that as long as they were sleeping we would wait until we got to a good exit and feed them at the 4 hour mark instead of 3 hours. We saw a Chic-Fil-A sign and decided we would stop at the next exit. As soon as we slowed down to pull of the exit both girls woke up...and they were not happy! To make things worse, there wasn't a Chic-Fil-A in sight. The exit had a big shopping center and lots of sit down restaurants, but only a McDonalds and Hardees in sight for fast food. We decided we might order through the drive thru at Jim-n-Nicks, but they couldn't do the sandwich we wanted in the drive thru and the line was long anyway so we decided to go ahead and feed the girls and then get our food since we couldn't even hear the girl on the drive thru machine they were crying so loudly. We got the girls out of their seats and just fed them in the front seats and changed their diapers on our laps. We let them have a few minutes out of the seats before we packed them back up and got back on the interstate. We thought they were going to go back to sleep, but Karlee woke up about 15 minutes into the drive. She was bored and not happy about being stuck in the back seat. Turning the light on seemed to work for a little while. Then I crawled back to the back and wedged myself between the two carseats on top of diaper bags and blankets. Keep in mind that there wasn't enough space for my big butt to sit between them so I kind of laid back on a pile of things with my legs stretched out in between the front seats. I kept Karlee entertained with a few of Sophie's toys (for a little while anyway). Then I ended up letting her suck on my thumb...I was really running out of options since she wouldn't keep her pacifier in. She finally worked herself into a sleep and I dosed off for a little while too. We stopped one more time to feed them and they slept after that one. We met James off an exit on 840 around midnight and he took Amber and Karlee on home. We were finally home!!! What an adventure!
