Memorial Day Cookout at Aunt Deborah and Uncle Bill's

We spent the evening at Aunt Deborah's and Sophie had a blast playing with all the kittens and swimming in the pool with her Daddy. She was not the least bit afraid of the kittens and was pretty insistent on holding them. She was trying to "knock, knock" to get in the house with one of them. She then decided that one wasn't enough and she needed to hold two of them. I'm glad cats are durable (if that is a way to describe them) because she wasn't easy on them. Most of you who know me and Chad know that we aren't exactly animal people and Sophie might not ever get to have a pet. We can let her enjoy them at other people's house:)
Tara - I figure you will really enjoy these pictures. I tried to get one on my phone to send you last night, but she was moving too fast!

Memorial Day Lunch

We met for lunch at Cheddar's in Smyrna with Grandmama, Grandaddy, Aunt Morgan, Aunt Amber, Uncle James and Karlee. Morgan, Dad and James had played golf that morning so we decided to meet in Smyrna after their game since the weather wasn't going to cooperate for our picnic. We had a great lunch and got to spend time with family:)

Jackson's Birthday Party

We went to Lebanon (again) after church for Jackson's 8th Birthday party. Jackson is Chad's Godson and was a ring bearer in our wedding. Unfortunately, we don't see them as often as we would like to, but birthdays are always a good way to catch up with them. They had rented a huge blow up water slide, but by the time we got Sophie changed into her swimsuit it started raining and the party moved inside. Sophie enjoyed the cupcakes and Casey's dog, Shelby. We thought Sophie and the dog favored each other since they have the same color hair:) As you can see, Sophie is definitely an animal lover...don't know who she gets that from!

Sophie's 80th Sunday at Church...

Made the mistake of thinking Sophie could walk with Eliza to light the candles....notice the action shot of her trying to do her own thing. We will be waiting awhile for this one. After the service, we had 5th Sunday dinner. I had never heard of this before I started going to Rocky Glade, but we have a potluck lunch anytime there are 5 Sundays in a month. Lots of good food...I end up eating way too much!

Darren and Sarah's Wedding

We went to Darren and Sarah's wedding in Lebanon on Saturday night. They are church family and long time friends of the family (all the McClaran side and most of the Lamb side of Chad's family were at the wedding). The Hedgepath's (Sarah's family) actually made the trip to East TN for our wedding. The wedding was beautiful and now I'm wishing I had snapped a picture of the bride and groom...guess I had my hands full with Sophie. She had fun playing with her cousins, but was a little scared when the loud music started and we were close to the speakers. She ran right to her Daddy...pretty scared. I have noticed, just in the past week or so, that she is a little more sensitive to loud noises and is scared a little more easily. I can remember being terrified of loud noises as a little girl...fireworks, motorcycles, the fake guns that were shot on the train ride at Dollywood...hopefully she won't be as bad as I was.
The picture of Sophie with Papa cracks me up. This is how she "hugs your neck".

Fun Day in Eagleville...

Sophie and I went out to Eagleville around lunch time and ate at Granny's. We spent the rest of the afternoon at Nanny's playing with Grant and then met Chad up at Mammy's when he got off work. Chad needed to get started on the bible school decorations and was planning on staying late that night. We figured the only way he would get to see Sophie is if we were out there for a little bit in the evening.
Mammy and Pappy had planned to eat at Michael and Elizabeth's so they invited us to join them. Sophie and Eliza had fun playing in the rain at Mammy's before we left. Sophie was playing in a puddle and slipped so Mammy pulled out some shorts she had from when Eliza was younger...they were a little small on her. The two of them played so well together at Eliza's house. By the time we left Sophie was crying not to leave Mammy so they decided we should stop at the Dollar General so they could buy Sophie a slinky like Eliza's...she was so proud of it!

Playing in the Water with Daddy

Sophie enjoys spending time outside with her Daddy watering the flowers. I sent her out in her diaper after she ate and this is what I found them doing:)
Sophie had spent the afternoon with Grandmama. She came to get her around lunch and they went out to eat and then to a few shops. I called around 2:30pm to tell her to bring her home so we could take a nap (I needed one too and felt guilty napping without her). Of course Mom was wrapped up in shopping and didn't get her home until after 5pm. I think they had a good time!

Wild Things, Pool and Playing with Trey

Karlee and Nate came to the Wild Things class Sophie has been going to every Wednesday morning. It was so cute to see them interacting together in this setting. Karlee could hardly do the hand motions in one song b/c she was trying to hold Sophie's hand at the same time. They also held hands during the little nature hike and Karlee led them off the trail for a little bit. They were "marching" and you can see how Karlee really picks her feet up and exaggerates the march.
We ate at the new Toot's on our side of town and took advantage of the $3.99 chicken finger basket. Sophie and I can share a meal and have a little left over...can't beat the deal. Between Amber, Morgan and myself, we had enough to take Grandmama for lunch. Of course the girls climbed right up in her lap when she started eating even though they had just had lunch.
We went out to the pool for about an hour or so and then came back in when Carrie and Trey got there. They were flying out of Nashville that evening and we got to spend a little time with them. Trey turns 1 on Memorial Day and has started walking. It was really cute to see the three of them together. We were all a little sad knowing how little we have been able to see each other this year. I wish we all lived in the same place!!

Spending the Day in Chattanooga with Kristin and Elise

Kristin and I decided to meet halfway (in Chattanooga) for the day while she is still on maternity leave. It only took us each about an hour and a half to get there and both our girls did really well in the car. We met up at the mall thinking anything outside would be too hot. It worked out great! We walked around, spent time in the pet store (Sophie loves animals), ate lunch and then let Sophie play in the play area. We got there around 10:15 (central time) and left by about 2:30 (central). Sophie was wiped out by the time we were leaving. I thought she just had her head down looking at something, but then realized she had fallen asleep. She slept the entire drive home!
Sophie was very fond of Elise and called her "baby" all day. Elise is about 2 1/2 months old and will be running around with Sophie before we know it.

18 Month Checkup and Afternoon with Nate

Sophie had her 18 month checkup on Monday morning. She was so good at the doctor's office. Dr. Bigham was impressed with how easy the exam was. She didn't resist him looking in her ears, nose and even opened her mouth and stuck out her tongue when he asked. She weighed 21lbs and 14oz (between 10th and 25th percentile) and was 30 1/2 inches tall (25th percentile). Her head measures in the 90th percentile:) She has been consistent with her growth and stayed along the same curve so the Dr. isn't worried at all. She is just a little petite. She got four shots and did pretty well. She even said "yay" after the first one, but then it started hurting and she cried.
After lunch, Nate came over to play while Katie went to her appointment. They had so much fun playing together. They had their own conversation in baby noises back and forth. I think Sophie was all played out by the time they left (she even tried to lay down while he was still there). It didn't take but a minute to get her to sleep and I even moved her to her little couch where she slept for over 2 hours.
While she slept, I made chicken casserole, lima beans, mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese. Grandmama, Grandaddy and his coworker Jeff came over for dinner. Sophie really likes attention and pretty much demands that any guest is paying attention to the cute things she is doing. The picture of her and Grandmama is to show her eating Grandmama's cookie. She knows who to go to when she wants food:)

Two More Additions...

Sophie will be getting two more cousins before Christmas (in addition to the ones you already know about). Lane came to lunch at Granny's with his "Big Brother" shirt on and it took us all a little while to notice. Deanna is due on December 2nd.
On Mother's Day, Katie and Shane told us Nathaniel is going to be a big brother - due December 10th.
So, in just one year (since last Christmas) Sophie will gain 5 cousins and a brother. Wyatt, Luke, Katelyn, Sutton, Deanna's baby and Katie's baby. We are just a growing family!

Sophie's 79th Sunday

Grant lit the candles at church for the first time this Sunday (with a little help from cousin Brandon). He was really enjoying it and did such a good job! I got some good shots from our front row seats.

Sophie is officially a Mammy's girl. She started saying Mammy when we pulled up in the parking lot. She immediately went to her after Sunday school and sat with her until she had to go to the choir. She whined just a little to go with her, but did sit with me during the music. As soon as she was coming out of the choir she started calling her name again! I'm sure you can't imagine why she would want to sit with her...look at all the entertainment:)
